Toronto Star – Students from JA Laird Elementary School have welcomed community feedback from businesses in the Columbia Valley, and even from some residential school survivors, on a recent school project.
Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board – Staff and students at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Elementary School have committed to improving the lives of Indigenous people by building awareness, education and connections between all people in Canada. These efforts have recognized Sacred Heart as a Legacy School through the Downie and Wenjack Fund.
Inspired by Chanie’s story and Gord’s call to build a better Canada, the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund aims to build cultural understanding and create a path toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Our goal is to improve the lives of Indigenous people by building awareness, education, and connections between all peoples in Canada.
