Manager, Oshki Wupoowane

Start Date: Immediate 

Position: Manager, Oshki Wupoowane 

Classification: Management 

Location: Remote (main office based in Ontario) 

Job Status: Full-time, Permanent 

Compensation: $70,000-$90,000 annually plus comprehensive benefits package

SUMMARY 

As part of the DWF team, the Manager, Oshki Wupoowane is responsible for leading all elements of the operations and management of Oshki Wupoowane | The Blanket Fund (The Blanket Fund), including the day-to-day operations (granting application and selection process, management, and reporting), relationship management and capacity building support between grantee organizations and DWF, as well as ensuring The Blanket Fund administration is accurate and up to date.   

Reporting to the Director, Development, the Manager, Oshki Wupoowane will be responsible for advancing all Blanket Fund-related activities for DWF.   

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for maintaining ongoing relationships with partners and grantee organizations, working with these organizations to support them in achieving their goals and objectives 
  • Collaborate with the Director, Development, President & CEO, and other stakeholders to implement Blanket Fund goals to reach annual KPIs 
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate all Blanket Fund activities, timelines, and commitments, as well as monitor, support, and report on the commitments to program partners  
  • Oversee and coach members of The Blanket Fund team, ensuring organizational and individual professional development goals are met  
  • Provide reports, updates, and ongoing feedback to the President & CEO and Director, Development related to The Blanket Fund deliverables  
  • Identify, develop, manage, and steward prospective Blanket Fund partners in collaboration with the Director, Development 
  • Develop and monitor budgets associated with The Blanket Fund initiatives 
  • Lead the administration of The Blanket Fund grant disbursement efforts, including tracking grants, expense budgets, and creating progress reports and reporting calendars ensuring strategic plans and processes are carried out in a timely manner 
  • Ensure fulfillment of partner goals and deliverables, and assist in creating standardized funding agreements  
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy in conjunction with Marketing & Communications to promote The Blanket Fund, and develop communication materials as required 
  • Develop grant plans, tailored agreements, reports, and communication strategies to ensure a high level of partner cultivation, engagement, and relationship building 
  • Oversee the planning and execution of special events, in collaboration with the DWF team, to promote The Blanket Fund widely 
  • Engage volunteers as needed for special Blanket Fund development projects using established volunteer management practices 
  • Monitor trends in the community or region and adapt The Blanket Fund strategies as necessary 
  • Participate as a representative of DWF at events within the community  
  • Build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and goals of DWF and The Blanket Fund 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree or equivalent with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience in Indigenous communities, not-for-profit, or charitable giving work, preferably within a grant-making role 
  • Must possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills  
  • Strong organizational/time management skills with an ability to plan ahead, define measurable objectives and outcomes, and meet timelines 
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Sound knowledge of grant management software or equivalent systems 
  • An ability to prioritize and handle multiple concurrent tasks in a highly effective manner 
  • Experience working with Indigenous people and communities and knowledge of Indigenous cultures 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, internet, and general office equipment 
  • Current Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening is required

Preference will be given to: 

  • Candidates with lived experience of Indigenous cultures and heritage 
  • Working knowledge of Indigenous traditional languages or French

Program Assistant, ReconciliACTIONs

Start Date: April 1, 2023 

Position: Program Assistant, ReconciliACTIONs 

Location: GTA including Durham, York, Peel and Halton (Remote)
Job Status: Full-time, contract  

Hours of Work: 35-40 

Salary: $20-$25/hr based on experience 

SUMMARY 

As part of the DWF team, the Program Assistant, ReconciliACTIONs will ensure the efficient day-to-day operations of the Education and ReconciliACTIONs department. The Program Assistant will be responsible for data entry, file management and reviewing program resources with the goal of strengthening educational and cultural resources to inspire reconciliACTION for DWF stakeholders. This role reports to the Manager, ReconciliACTIONs.  As DWF continues to rapidly grow and expand a willingness to be nimble, flexible, and accommodate ongoing change is necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Coordinate tracking of reconciliACTIONs across the country, including but not limited to social media, outreach, and maintaining data on DWF file sharing platform  
  • Assist with ongoing data integrity, ensuring mailing information for stakeholders is kept up- to-date  
  • Provide administrative support to the Education and ReconciliACTIONs team  
  • Review and source culturally-based, relevant and appropriate resources to enhance DWF’s Legacy Schools, Legacy Spaces and ReconciliACTIONs programs  
  • Assist in maintaining ongoing relationships with community members, Legacy School educators, Legacy Space partners where required  
  • Assist in representing DWF at conferences and community events  
  • Assist with developing communications (emails, social posts, web copy, evaluation surveys, etc) and answer questions, and requests for support  
  • Work closely with Marketing & Communications to ensure reconciliACTIONs and success stories are being shared on DWF social media, and curriculum and teaching tools, are continuously updated online  
  • Carry out other duties which may be necessary from time to time, as required  

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Must be registered with Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training (note: registration should be completed before the interview process)  
  • Ideal candidate has strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to problem- solve  
  • Ideal candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills and an ability to meet deadlines, take initiative, and work as a member of a team  
  • Demonstrated professionalism and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality  
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and SharePoint), zoom, and general office equipment  
  • Ideal candidate will have an understanding and appreciation for Indigenous culture, traditions, and practices  
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in administration/accounting/business or experience in an administrative position is considered an asset  
  • Current Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening may be required
