Summer Student – Youth Ambassador, Administrative Services Coordinator

Start Date: May 24, 2022 (flexible) 

Position: Summer Student – Youth Ambassador, Administrative Services Coordinator 

Available Positions: 1 

Location: Toronto, Ontario (remote) 

Job Status: Full-time, contract (max. 16 weeks) 

Hours of Work: 35 

Salary: $18.00 per hour 

SUMMARY 

As part of the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF) team, the Youth Ambassador, Administrative Services Coordinator offers a unique opportunity for a post-secondary student to get a hands-on, paid summer internship spanning a wide range of skills and experiences. DWF is seeking a self-motivated individual who will be responsible for daily administrative tasks, attending outreach events, and assisting DWF program and development departments. 

Reporting to the Manager, Education and Activation the successful candidate will join the DWF team from May 2022 to August 2022. As DWF continues to rapidly grow and expand, a willingness to be nimble, flexible, and accommodate ongoing change is necessary. 

This is a temporary summer student position which is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Eligible applicants must meet the criteria of the program to be considered:  

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;  
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and; 
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Support the administration of the DWF Youth Ambassador Program 
  • Coordinate outreach to support student participants 
  • Work with program team to organize engagement activities  
  • Maintain database by entering new and updated data and information  
  • Help create and administer impact surveys 
  • Act as a role model and leader to youth participants  
  • Support promotion (including social media, website, and blog) of the program  
  • Assist with administrative work to support the internal team and other DWF teams 
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary program in fundraising, communications, business, or other relevant field of study (or equivalency), or recent graduate 
  • Minimum two (2) years of current work-related experience 
  • High levels of accuracy, productivity and initiative are required 
  • High attention to detail and ability to complete repetitive tasks consistently and effectively 
  • Demonstrated professionalism and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality 
  • Strong time management skills with an ability to plan, define measurable objectives, outcomes and meet timelines 
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and to assess and prioritize multiple priorities 
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Knowledge on data regulations, privacy, ethical use of data, data sharing, and access management is considered an asset 
  • Experience with data fundraising software is considered an asset 
  • Exceptional knowledge of MS Office, SharePoint, internet, and general office equipment 
  • Current Police Record and Vulnerable Sector Check is required

DWF is seeking a self-motivated individual who will be responsible for daily administrative tasks, date entry, and assisting DWF program and development departments.  

Reporting to the Director, Programs & Operations the successful candidate will join the DWF team from May 2022 to August 2022. As DWF continues to rapidly grow and expand, a willingness to be nimble, flexible, and accommodate ongoing change is necessary. 

This is a temporary summer student position which is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Eligible applicants must meet the criteria of the program to be considered:  

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;  
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and; 
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

  • Verify entered account data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or re-entering data 
  • Combine data from various information sources when account information is incomplete 
  • Purge files to eliminate duplication of data 
  • Contact accounts to ensure accuracy of information, and update as needed 
  • Contact accounts to collect editorial content for communications pieces 
  • Conducts research and data analytics to better understand the impact of DWF 
  • Assist with administrative work to support the internal team 
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
