Thank You for Celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day with us at Scotiabank Arena!

This year, we celebrated Indigenous Excellence: Past, Present, and Future with 1,500 students in-person at Scotiabank Arena, and thousands more tuned in virtually.

The event began with a concert (streamed live on Youtube) followed by a series of learning stations around the concourse of the arena where students participated in meaningful discussions on Indigenous cultures, languages, and knowledge.

NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY

JUNE 21

We recognize June 21 as National Indigenous Peoples Day. It is a day to celebrate and honour Indigenous heritage, diversity, and cultures, as well as the outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples throughout Canada. Since time immemorial, June 21, or the Summer Solstice, has been celebrated and honoured in Indigenous communities as the longest day of the year. In 1996, while working with Indigenous communities, the Government of Canada officially recognized June 21 as National Indigenous Peoples Day.
